I spent 17 years as an independent broker before joining Exit Realty and I enjoy helping my clients understand the market, locate financing, find a property, negotiate a great deal and sit with them right through to the closing.
You may ask yourself why I sound so passionate about this business. Well it’s quite simple… I literally grew up in the business (as the son of a Real Estate Developer) and real estate is in my blood. I’ve called Traverse City my home since 1991 and have expertise in Marketing, Web Sites, Land Development, Condominiums, Water Front Properties, Foreclosures, Short Sales and New Construction.
I am a former General Contractor, former Michigan Real Estate Appraiser (Valuation specialist) and have a degree in Marketing and Management. I am the former 2009-2010 Chairman of the Traverse Area Association of Realtors (TAAR) MLS Committee which oversees the operation and implementation of the Multiple Listing Service; I am a member of the TAAR Board of Directors as well as a current member of the TAAR Professional Standards Committee.
In addition I have earned several designations and certifications from the National Association of Realtors including CRS, ABR, RSPS, SFR, Green and ePro. There are many qualities and skills that go into being an excellent real estate professional - integrity, in-depth community and market knowledge, marketing savvy, effective negotiation skills and a high-quality professional network, all of which are hallmarks of how I work.
That said, in my experience as a Traverse City real estate professional, I've also found that providing the very best service is essentially about putting my clients first. This means keeping myself accessible, being a good listener as well as a good communicator, and responding quickly to your needs.
This "client first" philosophy has always been my approach and it requires me to continually improve my skills and ways of doing business. In addition, I've found that the latest technologies are enabling me to do everything I've always done, only much more quickly and efficiently. They've also helped me to extend the range of services I provide to my clients.

DESIGNATION / CERTIFICATION DESCRIPTIONS
Certified Residential Specialist (CRS)
A Certified Residential Specialist, and is awarded to experienced agents who have completed advanced training in listing and selling, and who meet rigorous production requirements. An agent with this designation has proven they have the training, experience and commitment to be the best in their profession. Less that 3% of all real estate agents have attained the CRS designation.
Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR)
The Accredited Buyer's Representative designation from the Real Estate Buyer's Agent Council helps prepare real estate professionals to represent buyer clients in residential real estate transactions and provide the quality of service and degree of fidelity to buyers that sellers have customarily enjoyed. It also offers ideas and methods for building a buyer representation business and tools for conducting buyer counseling sessions.
E-PRO is a training program presented entirely online to certify real estate agents and brokers as Internet professionals. E-PRO is not just about technology; it's about how you can leverage your most powerful asset, your people skills, into doing more business on the Internet. E-PRO gives you exhaustive Internet training, unique competitive advantage, and professional distinction.
The National Association of REALTORS® Green Designation is the definition of green professionalism, excellence, and leadership for today's real estate practitioners. Specifically designed to address the educational needs of practitioners in residential, commercial, and property management markets, this training program is a true cross-over designation and the only green designation recognized by NAR.
Resort and Second-Home Property Specialist (RSPS)
The RSPS Certification is a nationally-recognized certification awarded by the National Association of REALTORS® to real estate professionals who wish to demonstrate and promote – to consumers and their peers alike – their expertise in the resort and second home specialty.
Short Sales and Foreclosure Resource (SFR)
Short Sales and Foreclosure Resource certification, or SFR® for short, gives agents the framework for understanding how to:
